How To Clean A Terribly Dirty Shower Floor!

Slip Resistant Texture Doesn't Mean

Difficult To Clean...

The course texture of our unique shower floor is what provides fantastic footing to help prevent falls in the shower.  This texture is manufactured with a virtually non-porous polymer that naturally resists staining and doesn't harbor bacteria.  A nylon brush and any common soap will casually clean your shower floor with one minute of brushing.  If there appears to be superficial staining like you see in the video, simply opt for a cleaner containing bleach and wait a couple minutes before washing away.

What Can Be Done If Staining Is REALLY Bad?

First, rule out hard water deposits by trying CLR or Lime Away type cleaners.  Sometimes these messes are immune to normal cleaning chemicals.

Also, be aware that you can apply acetone to this shower floor; unlike acrylic and common plastics our bases will not be harmed.  Acetone could allow you to remove something like spilled nail polish or sticky adhesive that somehow got smeared onto the shower base itself.  As a last resort you should probably never need, Scotchbrite (which is abrasive) will microscopically "sand" a fraction of a millimeter of material off the surface of the base and could help remove a dried on foreign substance.  Scotchbrite might make the surface texture a little bit smoother, but its ability to abrade off surface debris is powerful.  It usually reveals a new-looking surface when finished.

What About The Threshold?
Cleaning It Isn't Shown In This Video...

Thresholds are made of what the industry calls "solid surface" which cleans very easily as it is smooth and non-porous.  Thresholds can be treated the same as a window sill, half wall cap, shower seat, or any of the other custom solid surface parts we fabricate.

In the rare event you wish to renew the threshold with an abrasive, you can use Scotchbrite and it can probably be kept looking new for life assuming the damage isn't severe. As a visual demonstration, you can see a solid surface part completely restored after enduring burn damage on the left.

Shower Floor Care Guides

After each shower floor is installed, a "Care Guide" (included in the box) is to be left with the homeowner.

While normal non-abrasive household cleaners will all perform well, you'll love that these care guides are specific about which cleaners perform best.  We name the names of popular cleaners you're familiar with and we've tested them in our own homes with our own families and know what works.  We've even included some tips for maximum longevity and what to do if surfaces get extra dirty and normal cleaners aren't cutting it.  It's all very simple.
